Babies are the human beings with the greatest ability to transform the lives and values of those around them. Music is probably the human activity that most easily brings together people of different ages, cultures, and values around a common experience. <\/p>\n\n
Concerts for Babies is a pioneering international project that offers music, with a special focus on classical languages, while cultivating a wide range of musical grammars, from Pop to Traditional, from Jazz to World. <\/p>\n\n
Despite an already abundant season of Concerts for Babies, given the limited audience these concerts allow, the experience is reduced to a small group of families.<\/p>\n\n
Over the past 30 years, during which Musicalmente and Paulo Lameiro have developed various Music for Babies projects throughout Europe, it has become clear that these musical experiences are unidirectional: mothers sing to the babies and musicians play for the babies and their parents. Babies do not have the opportunity to participate and interact at the same level. <\/p>\n\n
Since babies are the target audience of this artistic practice and have a much higher level of auditory capacity than adults, it would be important to give them a voice. We would like the non-verbal information that babies communicate with their mothers and the artists to be translated, reintegrated into the process of emission and enjoyment, thus offering a multidirectional experience with babies at the center.<\/p>\n\n
The biggest challenge of AMPLIFY in the rehearsal for babies is to give a musical voice to the babies, effectively making them the center of the process. To achieve this, it is important that technology, without invading the privacy of the babies or taking away their pleasure and experience of live musical enjoyment, can gather enough information from them to be translated into musical notation for the musicians and\/or the parents.<\/p>\n\n
